#55 I miss castagne -1

In the area between northern Tuscany, Liguria and Emilia-Romagna castagni (‘chestnut trees’) are part of the beautiful panorama, and chestnuts an essential part of human nutrition.

The most popular chestnuts recipe, known all over Italy is caldarroste (caldo ‘hot’ arrosto ‘roasted’)… 

and  castagnaccio

But in the place where I was born chestnuts are much more…

Chestnut leaves are used for a variety of thing: they were (and still are) used to wrap bread before baking it

or cheese…
